Special Episode: How film workers can navigate COVID-19

The Vancouver film and television industry has all but shut down in the wake of COVID-19. How will film workers – many of whom live paycheck to paycheck – pay their bills? How can film workers stay socially and creatively engaged in this time of social distancing? These are unprecedented times. There is no rulebook for any of this – and because of social distancing, we can’t gather together as a community to talk things through and seek comfort from one another. But there are different ways to gather, to seek comfort, and share information – and today’s episode of the YVR Screen Scene Podcast aims to do all of that. This episode features interviews with UBCP/ACTRA President Keith Martin Gordey, actor, playwright, and YVR Screen Scene columnist Omari Newton, and indie producer and filmmaker Joel McCarthy. Together, we’ll try to make sense of the impact of COVID-19 on the industry we love – and how we can support each other during these challenging times.
